Practical Shooting Statistics: From Raw Number to Training Decision

Statistics in practical shooting is not a luxury for the elite — it is a filter to know if you are improving in the right division, on the right track and in the type of error that costs the most points.

Race statistics vs career statistics

In the test, you look at the combination, percentage compared to the best in the division and details by stage — you answer “how was I today?”. In his career, he crosses several imported races, averages by type of track (short/medium/long) and ELO ranking — he answers “am I rising or stagnating?”. The IM hub concentrates athlete search, stats by division and platform_stats; scoring.services offers educational pages and public comparisons at /comparacao.

Metrics that matter most in IPSC

Hit factor (points/time), A/C/D distribution, M/NS/PROC count, total time and PSBL (% of possible points) form the core. Consolidated statistics by division compare you with the average of those competing in Open, Production, etc. Heatmaps show whether you win with accuracy or pace — see /analise-ipsc and /heatmaps-ipsc.

ELO ranking and competitive level reading

The ELO summarizes the history of implicit comparisons between performances in aggregated events — useful for seeing trends, not for replacing the score of an official stage. The /ranking-elo-ipsc page explains the concept; the tool lives at im.scoring.services/atleta/elo

Comparison and performance analysis

To compare performance between athletes or against visual references, use the comparison at /comparativo-atletas-ipsc and the hub tools at im.scoring.services (ELO, stats by division and evolution by stage).

When to use each type of statistic

During the test week: focus on stages similar to those in the briefing. Between seasons: ELO, evolution per year and platform stats to see trends. Before changing division or pistol: consolidated statistics by division in /estatisticas-consolidadas-divisao-ipsc.
