# Importing a match

> How a match enters Scoring Services. After import, the hub, overall, combined and editor read that copy. Import does not homologate the match and does not talk back to the range software.

Canonical: https://scoring.services/import
This file: https://scoring.services/docs/import.md
Legacy path `/importar-prova` redirects to `/import`.

## Sources

| Source | What the user provides | Notes |
| --- | --- | --- |
| PractiScore | A `.psc` results file | Direct file import. A separate tutorial on `/docs` explains exporting from PractiScore.com via WinMSS when the user only has the website |
| WinMSS | A `.cab` file | Preview, then confirm. Regions can be chosen when the file needs them |
| ShootingHouse | A results URL | The portal fetches that public results page |

The user confirms the match name and metadata before the rows are stored. A preview step exists so a wrong file can be discarded before it becomes a catalog entry.

## What import creates

- One match id and year, then a hub at `/match/{id}/{year}/{slug}`.
- Shooters, divisions, categories and per-stage scorecards (the `verify` data overall and the editor read).
- The match shows up on `/` and `/list` when it is enabled, completed, and not hidden.
- Hidden or private matches are not a public corpus. Do not guess their ids. If a match is missing, it may be hidden, still processing, or never imported.

Reprocess (reimport) refreshes the stored analysis from a new file. It is still an import, not an official correction by the federation. Say "the imported copy was updated".

## What import does not do

- It does not push scores back to PractiScore, WinMSS or ShootingHouse.
- It does not register shooters. That is Orbit.
- It does not decide protests.
- It does not, by itself, build a training plan or a video. Those are later steps on ipsc.digital and hitfactor.me.

## Recommended order for an agent

1. If the match is not on `/list`, the next step is `/import`, not a guessed `/match/` URL.
2. After import, send the user to the hub, then overall or combined.
3. Simulations belong in the Match Editor (`/docs/editor.md`) and do not require a new import.
4. A real correction of the published file means the match organizer fixes the range export and someone reimports. Do not tell the user that the editor already fixed the public board.
