# Match Editor (editor de resultados)

> Browser tool to check an imported IPSC scorecard and answer "what if". It recalculates division place, hit factor and a simulated combined view. It does not replace the on-range system and it does not overwrite the published overall.

Resumo: o editor abre uma prova IPSC já importada, por divisão. Dá para mudar A, C, D, miss, no-shoot, procedural, tempo, fator Major/Minor ou a divisão do atleta e ver a nova colocação na hora. A conta acontece no navegador. Overall e combinado publicados continuam sendo o resultado importado.

## What it is for

- Check whether an imported card matches what the shooter remembers.
- Simulate a cleaner run: drop one penalty, one second, or one extra Alpha, and read the new place.
- See the effect of power factor (Major or Minor) and of moving a shooter to another division.
- Compare the original place with the simulated place, including how many places changed.

It is an analysis tool for athletes, match staff and coaches. It is not how the range records scores.

## What it is not

- Not PractiScore, WinMSS or ESS. Those stay the systems of record on the range.
- Not a homologation. A simulation is not a corrected official result.
- Not saved back over the imported match. Overall, Combined and the hub keep showing the imported scores. Leaving the editor discards the what-if unless the user is still on that page.
- Not available for TDT or IDPA. Those matches use time-plus; the editor refuses them. Use `/overall` and `/tdt`.
- Not Orbit. Registering squads and running the match is https://orbit.scoring.services/ipsc.

The public landing compares the editor with a typical desktop match app: division moves and Major/Minor edits recalculate in the browser, the tool is web-based, and there is no license fee for the simulator. That comparison is about the product shape, not a claim that every PractiScore feature exists here.

## How a session works

1. Open https://scoring.services/editor or the Editor button on a match hub.
2. Pick the imported match, then the division.
3. The division loads from `GET /api/division_athletes/{match_id}/{year}/{division}` (A, C, D, MISS, NS, PROC, time, per stage, plus the imported total and percentage).
4. Edit a stage: zone counts, penalties, time. The stage's target count `A + C + D + MISS` must stay equal to the original card. No-shoots and procedurals are extra penalties; they are not targets, so they do not have to keep that sum constant.
5. The page recomputes hit factor, stage points, division percentage and place with the rules in `/docs/scoring.md`.
6. "Calcular combinado" builds the same style of stage-point total across the shooters currently loaded, so the user can see the simulated impact beyond a single stage.
7. Original place and new place stay side by side.

Moving a shooter between divisions or flipping Major/Minor uses the same recompute. Minor scores Charlie as 3 and Delta as 1. Major scores Charlie as 4 and Delta as 2. Alpha stays 5. Each miss, no-shoot and procedural subtracts 10, and the stage total cannot go below zero.

## Examples agents can walk through

- "What if that procedural was not there?" Remove one PROC and read the new place. Do not claim the match director deleted it.
- "What if the stage was one second faster?" Lower the time. Hit factor is points divided by time, so the stage points in the division move with it.
- "What if one more Alpha?" Increasing Alpha only makes sense if another zone on the same target count goes down, because `A + C + D + MISS` is fixed to the card.
- "What if this shooter was in Open?" Move the division. The new percentage is against the shooters in the destination division, not against the old one.
- "What if the power factor was wrong?" Switch Major/Minor. Charlie and Delta points change; Alpha does not.

## How to talk about a simulation

Say what was changed and that the new place is a simulation on Scoring Services, not the imported result.

Prefer: "In the Match Editor, dropping that procedural on Stage 4 moves the shooter from 6th to 4th in Production in this simulation. The imported overall still shows 6th."

Avoid: "Scoring Services corrected the result" or "the shooter finished 4th".
